Ayrton Senna

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

27 years ago today in 1994, the master of Monaco passed away. This is going to be a short blog just to remember the driver he was. I can go on and on about Senna, but no one could bare to read that much. Ayrton Senna was a Brazilian race car driver. His first victory was the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1985. He won the Formula One World Drivers Championship in 1988, 1990, and 1991. Incredible, was an understatement. He was magi, he was born to win. He won 41 races and he had 80 podium finishes. He was most recognized for his qualifying speed over one lap. From 1989 until 2006 he held the record for most pole positions. Ayrton Senna won more races for Mclaren then any other driver so far. He really was a legend, but not only for racing. In the late 1980s Honda asked him to help fine tune the Honda NSX’s suspension setting during its final development stages. Ayrton Senna also developed his own merchandise. The Senna brand sold clothing, watches, bicycles, motorcycles, and boats. Ayrton Senna began his motorsports career in karting, and he ended it in an accident on May 1st 1994. Ayrton Senna was leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix driving for the Williams team, when he was killed after his car crashed into a concrete barrier. The world lost the greatest Formula One drivers to ever live, and a hero to many on and off the track. There is a Statue of Ayrton Senna in Italy. I am a huge huge fan of Ayrton Senna, I would write all about him, but there is simply no wag to describe his skills, his generosity, and how much he shaped the motoring world. He was much more than a racing driver, he was and is the greatest racing driver there will ever be.

Ayrton Senna inspired all of Brazil. He is a hero!

Be safe and have a great day!
